History

Here are some notes on the history of the project, organized by year or major event, including awards.

2003

June 16: Saticoy Field Trip - Pictures. Handout: "You Can Conserve Water." Video TBS.

September 20, 23: Coastal Cleanup Day (Ballona Creek), Bridge and Library Field Trip - Pictures. Cleanup Safety Precautions - Handout. Video TBS.

The biggest new "piece" that we did not cover last year at the CTAAP presentation is Culver Middle's involvement with Ballona Fresh Water Marsh and the "Museum Without Walls" concept, plus my 8th graders (last years scholars), who built the Treeswallow nestboxes (under Hal and Jan Wasserman's tutelage), placement of these nestboxes at the Ballona Fresh Water Marsh (proposed for placement Feb 2004). Jan had a big piece in her Powerpoint covering both Oxnard and Culver Middle students' involvement with building and placement/monitoring of Treeswallow nestboxes (as far as Oxnard students -- CCMS boxes won't be placed until Feb) in last year's CTAAP presentation. The only coverage we need on Treeswallow nestboxes this year will be making a ceremony of this year's placement in Feb. of the CCMS 19 boxes at the Ballona Freshwater Marsh. ... With Ballona in the headlines, that should be the focus of both the SEPRE site and the final project. -- Kay (October)
